August 27th has been proclaimed Beauty Becomes You Day...

The true meaning of "Beauty Becomes You" is this...it is the things you do to make this a brighter world for others that make you a beautiful person. Beauty Becomes You Day is the day you do something totally unconditional for someone else. They don't even need to know you did it. The person does not have to be someone you know but, it could be someone you have wanted to do something nice for and have been putting it off or it could just be spontaneous. At any rate, like the movie Pay-It Forward, you do something nice for someone (it can be difficult like forgiving someone but, doesn't have to be) and that person will do something nice for someone else and the chain will continue.

August is the perfect time to celebrate the beauty that becomes you when you do something wonderful, thoughtful, kind, or simple for someone else to make their day a little brighter.

On a personal note, why August 27th?
It will be 2 years ago on that day my father, Robert F. O'Neil, past away. For some it may seem odd or sad to celebrate a final day. But, it was not his final day, as you see, he is with us everyday now. And he is always in our hearts. A few of us celebrated the day last year, and this year the numbers are growing. We celebrate because of the brightness and beauty of his own spirit which he shared with everyone he met. He called almost everyone "my friend". It is also because of his words that we will soon be making people shine all over through the work of the Beauty Becomes You Foundation.

For those of you who would like to think on more of an up note...
This date is also the birth date of one of my best friends, Laura Fall Collins, as well as, Luna Gear, a woman I called "my other mother" and one of my mothers best friends, Elaine De Paolo.

It will be a most beautiful day and there are many wonderful people in it to celebrate!!!! So mark your calendars for August 27th - Beauty Becomes You Day. Just think, someday Hallmark or 1-800-Flowers might just mark it for you. In the meantime, feel free to share it with those you know who would like to know about it.
